The Singing Calabash
A calabash sings blessings for kind hands—and soot for greedy ones.
Abena found a calabash by the roadside and kept it safe. At night it hummed and sang, rolling out a small blessing—enough, not excess.
She used it wisely and shared quietly. Whispers grew, and her cousin Efua learned the secret.
Efua stole the calabash and demanded it sing for her. It did—then poured out ash and soot.
“Kind hands deserve kind returns,” the calabash warned. Efua confessed and returned what was not hers.
Abena kept the calabash—and kept gratitude even more carefully.
