Anansi and the Pot of Wisdom
Anansi hoards wisdom—until a child’s simple idea exposes his pride.
Kweku Anansi decided to gather all wisdom into a clay pot so everyone would need him.
When the pot grew heavy, he tried to hide it atop the tallest tree—tying it to his belly.
He slipped and struggled until his son Ntikuma called up: “Tie it on your back so your arms are free.”
Anansi burned with embarrassment—how could a child outthink him if he owned all wisdom?
In anger he threw the pot down. It shattered, scattering wisdom like seeds into the world.
From that day, wisdom lived everywhere—and grew when shared.
